Is anyone else like this?

For example I stick to the same route to and from town to do shopping every week. Always the same route. That way if I have trouble or disappear my family knows where to look. If wh drives us anywhere he alwsys takes a different route or deviates just to piss me off.

I also shop at the same grocery store and for the past 2 months they have been renovating. They bought thr vacant store space beside them and expanded.

This has sent me into a fucking frenzy.

I followed the same route through the store, made easier by the one way arrows during covid (loved them!). I buy the same crap every week so it was easy to get what I needed and get out because I knew where everything was.

Not. Anymore...

Except for produce, everything has changed. And it's a drastic change. Baking stuff is in the isle with ketchup. Frozen foods are in freezers all around thr outside instead of just the back. Toilet paper etc is where the pop (soda) used to be. And cupcakes cups that used to be in baking stuff is now on an end cap by Deli. WTF!

OMG I'm going to lose my friggin mind!

Please tell me I'm not the only person who wants to run through the store screaming...

And of course since today is a holiday everyone was losing their minds yesterday. Encountered the cream of thr crop for driving stupidity. Making a left turn from right hand lane, people running stop signs, parking diagonally across parking spaces. mad

And of course 2 of 3 banking machines just had to be out of order the day I need to get out the mortgage money. Gotta say I didnt realize I swore out loud until all the people in line looked at me. Then they all agreed and while waiting we all had a great chat. It was fun.

Usually my one day a week out of thr house is relaxing but yesterday was NOT.

I used to LOVE to go to the grocery store, especially when my boys were younger. The super Walmart and some Kroger stores would be open all night. I would wait till my kids went to sleep, and of course my husband was in bed, so if there was a need, he could take care of it. And I would leave at about 2 AM and go to the grocery store or Walmart and get whatever done I could. But I took my time. And I enjoyed the solitude! 😊

But now that I’m an old fart, I HATE going to the grocery store. Especially with pandemic issues in a mask and those who chose not to during the worst of it.

I even started using Instacart which I have since stopped using because it seem to have extra charges, and I didn’t always get what I wanted.

Now I am doing my own shopping again, but I don’t mind the store as much as I mind having to leave the house. Ha ha.

But I am OCD as well, So I don’t like it when things are not where they normally were. It can literally double your time at the store. If you’re escaping, that’s nice! But if you’re trying to be productive, it can be a real pain in the ass. Like using a completely new store where you have no idea where things are.

While we’re on the subject, why is it that every Walmart store is not set up the same way? Pharmacy is on the right side, or the left side, or in the middle halfway back…🤬

My guess is that they want to switch it up so that people have to pass by things they don’t usually pass by and maybe they will buy impulsively. But like you said, it’s a pain in the butt.

Every Walmart I've been to is laid out differently as well. I just dont shop there often so it doesn't seem to bug me.

I also get seriously annoyed when the kids do dishes and put things away in a different spot every damn time.

Or they open two of the same thing. Like why open the second box of cheerios when the first one isn't finished? rolleyes

Leaving a single sheet of toilet paper on the roll instead of using that last sheet and putting on a new roll will be what makes me snap!

Someone already tested my patience by opening the new package of toilet paper before the current one was done.

This is why I like animals. They don't pull this crap.

Drgn can you do instacart while the reconstruction is happening?

I HATE Grocery shopping, I have a min stand up routine on it, seriously. I have never done stand up, but I have a solid 5 min bit on it.

I started using instacart with Aldi in my area first was doing the at store pickup which was awesome, then they started doing delivery, and I live out in the country, no one delivers to us, not even pizza places. So when I found I could groceries delivered to my back door for less than $5.00 a trip I was on board.

I have been doing this ever since, and it is a sanity saver for me, and I have never gotten bad produce, or meat. I have accidentally ordered 4 bags of apples when I thought I was ordering 4 apples, but I shared them with family. LOL. I may have done the same with some meat. But that's what the deep freeze is for, right?

Anyway I feel your pain, and hope they get your store done soon. The other place I grocery shop sold all their stores a few years ago, and another local chain bought them, and redid them, it took them more than a year to remodel and have a final spot for things, and they don't put things that should go together near each other, and that's a giant pet peeve of mine. They also changed their entrance/exits to one ways at the beginning of Covid and did not open them to both way traffic again until late May. Which sucks for the elderly and handicapped because one way or another you were going to have to walk a lot further than necessary.

Now that it's just H and I in the house, I don't have to deal w/ the TP issue, and that's nice.

Tush, I am so anal I cannot stand anyone touching my groceries. Having baggers drives me crazy. I pack items according to where they go so cupboard stuff NEVER goes with fridge/freezer items. Yet every time anyone bagged them they always did that. Or worse put bread at the bottom and heavy shit on top OMFG!!!

Had to go back out today because wh arranged for us to visit the inlaws tomorrow (fml I would rather get sprayed by a skunk!) And LAST NIGHT asked his mother if there was anything we could bring. She said salads (potato and macaroni). He couldn't fucking ask her a few days ago....nooooooo

So out on a holiday...as if yesterday wasn't bad enough. So I went to my typical store. No salads.

Went to the larger more expensive store across the road. They had it. I actually prefer that store. They set up a single line for the cashiers and a computer screen that tells you with one to go to. It's organized, clean, bright and EVERYTHING IS IN THE RIGHT PLACE! I just wish it wasn't all double the price of the other store. Yes I'm cleap...

Wh worked this morning. Came home and noon and of course is his usual smart asd comment to everything I fucking says. Lost it on him thrn left. So I needed thr time out.

As far as the shoppers and bagging, I can honestly say the folks at Instacart to a much better job than the kids working in the store.

I get where you are coming from, but the people doing your shopping, bagging, and delivery are doing a good job, because you can request them over and over if they do what you like, and they are working for a tip. And I tip well, so my couple of people I use are fantastic.
You can also leave notes for requests like please only bag freezer items together, and refrigerator items together, blah blah blah.
They do it.

I hate when they move things at the grocery store. I like shopping, but I hate when they change stuff all around.

I'm an early riser, so I've been hitting the grocery stores by about 6:30 am. I hit 2 stores because one has better meat and the other has better produce. I can be finished before 8 am & back home before the general population is out. If I don't have too much, I'll do self-checkout.

When I go to the cashier, I put the heavy stuff first (cans, big boxes), so it can be on the bottom of the bags, then meat & cold foods, produce, then bread & chips. I am more particular about NOT getting my bread squished and chips crunched.

They renovated a local grocery store last year. The signs are not accurate they did to used gluten free items and moved everything.

I hate it. I still cannot find stuff.

I shop at a smaller grocery store (not a chain) now. Love it. People are friendly. Prices are great.

I hate when people don’t put things back. Drives me crazy. Everyone in my family knows NOT to touch my stuff. We moved 2X in 6 months and I was happy to throw stuff out. Downsizing is wonderful (even though we still have kids at home it was time for a smaller house).

We are all in the same club lol

I'm not sure if they have that where I am. Pretty out in the country.

I do enjoy the drive. Usually crank the tunes up. I find driving soothing (ok highway driving, not in town traffic).

I wish they had closed the store, worked to get the renovations done then reopened. So much less stress for shoppers. Right now things are stacked in isles, none of the shelves are faced which makes things difficult for my short ass. It's almost a hazard walking around.

Yesterday I went to my favorite store and had to look for one item. They moved it 😡🤪.

But then again, This store is always moving stuff. But if I have to ask — the employees are extremely helpful and will make sure you find what you are looking for.

I also don’t like when I have a favorite restaurant and a favorite meal and they change the menu and delete the item. Disappointed!

Having someone deliver groceries means I'll never end up leaving the house.

I'm practically a hermit now. Once a week I have an excuse to leave and have ME time, even just for food shopping.

Although that's changing more now. If I want to go out I don't ask, I just say I'm going.

Dragn, I can definitely see where an outing to buy groceries is a good time for you to get away and get some alone time.

As for the grocery shopping habit, I am with you. I don't want anyone to touch my groceries or select anything for me. I'm picky about brands. I used the grocery shopping and delivery only once and that was enough for me. It took 8 hours and someone else got my food - so I will never do that again. My habits have somewhat changed during the pandemic but like Whatsright, I used to like to grocery shop after midnight. That has changed now due to safety concerns and the fact that a lot of big stores do not stay open all night.

As for WH asking his mom at the last minute what to bring and she said SALADS -- you should have said 'oh that's fine! Go buy the stuff and make 'em!' smile

I'm expecting to have to give up working from home before the end of the year so my 'habits' will have to readjust themselves.

Before covid, grocery shopping was very structured for me.

I have a spreadsheet of what I buy (why rewrite the same list time after time), so I printed it off and cross off what I do NOT need before I went.

My grocery spreadsheet is in order by my shopping path. No more missing something and walking back half the store to get it.

Shopping was always done early morning to avoid people frustrating me. laugh

THEN GURL....they reorganized the grocery store. SENT me for a looop. LOL!!!!

Took weeks to realign my old spreadsheet to the new format.

SO I feel your pain!

EvenKeel

Oh man a spreadsheet is a great idea. I write out the same damn list every week. If I happen to forget my list there's always an old one at the bottom of my purse lol.

Not that I need it lol. Most of it is memorized.

Hopefully by Friday when I go back the store is in order and not a disaster zone of blocked isles and ladders, stocking trucks (carts)...

I think the people in charge of relining store products do it just to see how crazy they can make the public. Nothing is ever organized via common sense. Then again nothing is.

Like the designer of the original Durango running the wiring for the taillights between the frame and spare tire. DUH! Anyone remember that fiasco?

FML!

There are no stores here open overnight. Or even late. The latest is 8pm I think so night shopping isn't an option.

Maybe they are changing the store to make it appear they have more 'stuff' than they really have? Our store shelves are getting more bare every week.
