Love isn't what you say, it's what you do.

New Hampshire Coast

So we have decided to visit here for our summer vacation. Any recommendations for what area to stay in? We would love to be on the ocean and close to a beach, but can be flexible. We are planning to rent a condo/cottage/house for a week.

So what say you?

Grandkids - A thread for sharing!

I love seeing the grandbabies (and not so much babies any more). I feel badly hijacking someone's thread, but then feel *badly* starting a thread for just my own gs to brag on. Thus, this idea was just born in my head!

Here's my grandson announcing an upcoming event:

And the happy family

So let's see yours!

Name the Duck

So there is a Ducky Derby for charity. We bought a duck. The family (My sibs) has decided to *name* the ducks.

So far we have:

Quackers

Chuck the Duck

Waddles

Swimmer

I wish that I had duck feet

I chose "Shut the Duck Up"... but that was vetoed as this is a family event.

So clever SI peeps - Help me name my duck!

Summer Vacation - Michigan!

Ok - I got the idea here a year or 2 ago. Someone talked about Mackinac Island and I am sold! So we are going to go through Cleveland to see the Christmas Story house, on to Frankenmuth for a day or two, then up to Mackinac.

So whoever you were - can you share anything I should know about this road trip? Must sees? Etc?

For you - What comes first?

The book or the movie?

I ALWAYS read a book first, then watch the movie and I am almost always disappointed.

My kids ALWAYS see a movie, which sparks an interest in the book. They are almost always happy about the book - fills in blanks in the movie, deeper character development, etc.

It just kinda got me to thinking - wonder what other people do...

American Horror Story

Anyone else disappointed with the direction this show has gone? The first season was great, the Convent & Asylum were great as well...

But - the Freak Show and this season just don't cut it for me. I feel like I'm watching a slasher-porn movie. So disappointed.

Chicago!

Thinking of a long weekend next month. Do we need a car? Is driving a hassle? Would taxis be better? Subway? IS there a subway? LOL

As you can tell I know nothing about the area. What should we see? Where should we eat? Anyone there that might be interesting in getting a drink? Dinner? Brunch? Airfares are more affordable if we travel Sat-Mon.

So what say you oh wise ones?

My Fortune and Promise

My fortune cookie the other day:

A financial windfall is in your future

And just now - my Dove Promise wrapper

You should be paid for the advice you give

So this is my 7005 post - figure 1000 are F&G - so that leaves 6000+ posts of advice @ the low, low rate of $1/post and BOOM! There's my windfall!!

I will send invoices to each and everyone I have helped (or not so much even)!

Glitter Bomb - Not for Xmas!

Read all about it here - http://news.distractify.com/alex-scola/usps-priority-glitter/

"We fucking hate glitter. People call it the herpes of the craft world. What we hate more though are the soulless people who get their jollies off by sending glitter in envelopes."

We've had enough so here's the deal: there's someone in your life right now who you fucking hate. Whether it be your shitty neighbour, a family member or that bitch Amy down the road who thinks it's cool to invite you to High Tea but not provide any weed.

So pay us money, provide an address anywhere in the world & we'll send them so much glitter in an envelope that they'll be finding that shit everywhere for weeks. We'll also include a note telling the person exactly why they're receiving this terrible gift. Hint: the glitter will be mixed in with the note thus increasing maximum spillage."

May your revenge be swift and faaaaabulous.

Punta Cana?

We are planning a spring getaway to the Caribbean - looks like Punta Cana is leading the list of where to go. We have decided against a cruise - we both want to just plant somewhere rather than spend a little time is a lot of diff places.

So - anyone been to Dom Rep? Is it safe to venture off of the resort? (in Aruba we were OK, in Antigua we were advised against it unless with a *tour* )

Any resorts you would recommend? Advise against? We are open to all inclusive/not inclusive (we've done both). Looking for something *affordable*, yet nice. There are so many options!

Thanks, friends

ETA: We aren't really looking for *night life* - we enjoy a good show, but aren't really *clubbers*. We like a nice beach, gardens, food, exploring.

My DD went to PC,DR for her honeymoon and they pulled them out of their beach chairs to participate in the resort games - ya, no thanks.

Christmas Eve Gift Exchange - Ideas Needed

The adults in our family do a gift exchange with a game of some sort instead of buying for a specific person/each other. For instance, last year's theme was *As Seen on TV* - all gifts had to be from that genre. Price is $20ish and anything goes so long as it fits the theme. The game last year was a poem with a lot of *right* *left* words - when they were spoken all had to pass their gift left or right. At the end you get that gift - then there is an exchange/stealing aspect. It's just fun - some get great gifts, some not so great, but it's just fun.

This year's theme is *Rest & Relaxation/Comfort*. I know my dd got a cheetah print fleece blanket (that she is hoping to steal back for herself! ) My sister & BIL are getting PJ's. So I need a fun/different idea for my gift (and for H).

So whaddaya got?
