It isn't that she's proud, she's just utterly dismissive of it.

I just watched the episode where she makes the third escape attempt to run back to Craig Na Dun and the stones that may take her back to her own time and Frank. For the third time she is thwarted for all her efforts and is arrested by the English and dragged off. She never complains about her first husband in any kind of wayward fog way and her behavior is not like a wayward in the sense that she tried very hard to get back to Frank but can't. She married against her will. So, I don't agree that it's a book about glorifying infidelity.

I have no idea why Amazon wants to sell you this book. I'm sure that's annoying. I'm sorry for all you've been through and that this dumb book is such a trigger for you.

I dunno, maybe the show derailed from the book. In the book she spent about a whole two sentences thinking about Frank outside of comparing how he was in bed to Jaime. And of those two sentences one of them was how Frank was kind of a shithead. There were entire chapters on how awesome the sex with Gary Stu Jaime was and how gosh darnit she should feel bad but hey they were married right so fuck ahoy! Then I dunno get mad because it was a good plot device to be captured by Rape Fantasy Guy so she could be rescued again.

She had absolutely no remorse whatsoever in the book. It was just assumed that since she found herself trapped in time and forcibly married to a sexual dynamo virgin superhero everything was cool, and she could occasionally shit talk her actual husband so long as there was a fleeting "Is this so wrong?" thought jacked in there. She absolutely did complain about Frank in a wayward fog - he couldn't get her preggo the way Jaime did on round 1, he was all superior and treated her like she was less than him, etc etc. Anything positive she had to say was grudgingly forced because she was supposed to say it as a woman - which was about the only realistic historical part of the whole softcore porn novel.

I'm guessing Amazon keeps pumping it into my queue because some asshole put it under Historical Fiction, which is why I bought and read it in the first place.

I feel kind of shitty raining on the parade, but at the same time I feel like I earned that right because I bought the damn thing and read it.

Just got the first book in the series but have been watching it on cable since last season.

This is my opinion only... last week's Outlander on STARZ was really outrageous with the stuff between that nasty Captain Jack Randall and Jaime! It was a bit much in terms of what that nasty sadist will do in order to degrade and humiliate another person--we already know how he gets his jollies degrading Claire, but he really stepped over a line with Jamie. I guess I haven't gotten that far in the book yet--but if it's on the written page, I'll be skipping over that part.

Outlander obsessed here! Love the book series but have not finished them all. I bought the first DVD as I don't have cable or satellite. Great actors! Turning me into a bit of a fangirl.
