My first date in almost 35 years. I am excited but nervous as I can be!
Went to a friend's home this weekend and hung out at their pool. And met their neighbor :-)
And she is SO pretty - not sure what she sees in me. But I am not going to argue! I think it is time to go shopping.

Wish me luck!!!

HalfTime,
You did NOT offend me in the slightest!! I thank you for your encouragement!!!! You would have no way to know my gender from my user name :-)

Are you going shopping for a fun new outfit?
I definitely am! Found a cute pair of capris yesterday. Now to find the perfect top to match!
EvenKeel,
Do you know what you are going to do for your date?
Yes - we are going out for dinner and a few cocktails. See where things go from there. And thanks - I know I still have a lot to offer someone - I clean up pretty good :-)
Everyone else!
Thank you all so much! I will definitely report in on Saturday!

Today is the day!
Yes - we are going out for dinner and a few cocktails.
Dating is extra challenging right now in so many areas due to Covid restrictions so I didn't know if you had to do something unconventional.
Hope you have a nice time tonight.

OK - post date breakdown.
First - I had a wonderful time! She has obviously been picking our mutual friend's brain - she had reservations at my absolute favorite restaurant.
And we have a whole lot in common right down to losing a long term partner in the past year. Both have 2 adult children. She divorced her husband when she finally had the courage to come out and her long term partner passed away last year.
After dinner we went to a local park and wound up talking until the park closed. Then she drove me home, kissed me goodnight and asked if I wanted to see her again!
So all in all - a solid 10/10 would recommend! We are going to the farmer's market market tomorrow and I am going to cook her dinner.
Thanks everyone!!! Your kind words and encouragement mean a LOT to me.

Well holy crap, that sounds like the perfect date!!! Aaahhhhh!!!
I know we're not supposed to get ahead of ourselves, but I'm excited for you. She is obviously interested enough that she wanted to make a really good impression. And it sounds like she did.
I'll be looking for updates

Scary isn't it? And the best advice I have gotten was from the grief therapist. She told me to only start dating when I was 100% comfortable in my own skin. This whole thing happened organically and when I was not really looking for a date necessarily. But I am super glad I did.
She is smart, pretty and makes me laugh. What more could I ask in a first date! We were talking last night and, in the interest of 100% transparency, I did tell her that a part of my heart will always belong to my late husband. And, thank goodness, she understood what I meant immediately. It is nice to connect with someone on multiple levels like that.
And you will do just fine - go do you and I guarantee that someone is gonna find that hella attractive.
