I have COPD . In FEB of this year I decided to replace all my carpeting with laminate.
I went to a local small store and ordered it. FEB 27th.

They did tell me that there could be problems getting it since there are shipping issues.
The owner of the store has been keeping in touch all along keeping me updated on the fact that it has not been made yet

I do understand how these factories work and I do understand the shipping issues but I am getting very frustrated .
The flooring company is in Europe .....and I had to put 1/2 down to even order this.

what should I do ?

The owner of the store is keeping in communication with you. That’s a ➕

You may just have to wait. To go and lose $ on your deposit and then re-order may not make sense from both a financial perspective and timing perspective.

EVERYTHING – and I mean EVERYTHING more or less… Is on back-order.
My employee is waiting for a delivery of computer displays -> two months behind schedule.
We have been asked to delay renewing smart-phones because the more popular types are on back-order.
I have been planning on updating my home wireless network but both the new router and the AP’s I want are on back-order (big company).
Spare parts for my RV… guessed it -> back order.
From my understanding it’s a combination of lack of supplies to producers and limitations in shipping, making delays both in production and delivery.

Other than check if the company is in Russia, White Russia (economically blocked) or Ukraine then I would show the seller as much patience as you can. On the plus-side everything is bound to increase in price, and with your down-payment you have hopefully set the total amount you will pay.

I work in supply chain, and let me tell you--it's a righteous mess. You're fortunate that the owner of the store is keeping in touch with you. Ask him to let you know if the order is still at the factory or on the water. There are port delays, so what used to be a 30-day ocean transit is now 45-90 days.

If you feel you need to go elsewhere, talk to the owner about your concerns. He may be good with refunding your deposit and selling the material to someone else. Be prepared they may not be in a position to do that, though.

First THANK YOU ALL for answering. I really knew this would be bad but the worse is that it still on the list to be made at the factory.

Guess I will wait ,and hope. They have offered to rip up my old carpet. The floors under the carpet are bad.

Cat, my son in law works in transportation for a world wide company and he has told me how bad it is. crying
