Thinking of heading to Vegas for the holidays. Heard there are amazing parks within an hour of there and it is generally an inexpensive place to travel.
Anyone have any suggestions of fun things to do.
I like nature. Am not a drinker. Enjoy healthier food. Parks? Nature? Maybe a magic show? The warm weather is a big plus there.

Well, it might be warmer there than where you live, but it has known to get cold there, especially if you’re visiting any parks at slightly higher elevations.
I’d recommend Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area; you can spend a couple of hours there, or all day. Also, a visit to Hoover Dam is amazing! I was in awe for days! We stayed in Boulder City, NV and did some hikes around Lake Mead, which was gorgeous, although sad, seeing how the drought has affected the lake. You can probably find a day trip tour bus that takes you to the west rim of the Grand Canyon if you haven’t seen that. I don’t ‘do’ Vegas; it has no appeal to me. But there are some great places to see nearby and worth exploring.

Last time I was there, it was for a work function. As part of the evening banquet, the LINQ was rented out for us that night. It's a version of a Ferris wheel, but you're in enclosed clear balls. The nighttime view was fabulous.

Thanks for the ideas!!!

The draw for me is that airmiles can be used to get there and I thought it was warm lol
I have not been to the Grand Canyon so that's a great idea.

Vegas is no longer inexpensive. In addition to the charge for the room most hotels are charging a use of the property charge, aka pool, gym etc. my understanding is this is weather you use them or not. Maybe someone else can speak about this.
I loved Red Rock Canyon better then the beautiful Grand Canyon. We spend hours there.

I'd like to say why Grand Canyon is special.
I went again in October to see the canyon by the full moon. No picture can truly describe its beauty. The canyon changes colors starting with dawn and right through to dusk. The full moon causes golden rock layers to glow. In the morning you can watch the canyon's rich blues turn to violet and then purple and then red purple. Then sunlight shows pinks and yellows. It's not a hard walk along the rim.
There are pine forests with birds and deer and elk. There are free busses to take you along the edge. There are beautiful clouds which stretch out for miles.
For me it feels very ancient and powerful. You feel small next to it. It never is boring to look at. You won't forget the experience you have there. Talking to the people who work and live there you realize that they have a deep connection to it and want to be near it. It gives a calm and deep peace that is restorative. When you first see it, it's invigorating and exciting.
At the trailhead down there are celebrations as friends and family cheer for people coming out in late afternoon and into the night.
There's nothing else like it. It's a precious wonder of nature.
Thank you everyone for your wisdom and healing.

Thanks Pricklepatch. You are correct on both counts. No longer inexpensive and also aweful resort fees!

I've only been to Vegas for work conferences.
Stay away from the slot machines.

That is a hilarious observation Jeaniegirl!
I might have to play a little low stakes poker to augment the people watching and the shows I am being gifted for the holidays lol
