Well, I wanted to give a brief update regarding my family.

The son who has been threatening me and out of control with his drinking has made a bit of a turn. He said he was going to check himself into the psychiatric hospital. He went, but they said that it was too late that day. So he went back the next day and they told him he had to come in through the ER. So he went to the ER. He said to them that he was there because he had hit his truck and had cuts all over his hand, his cornea was hemorrhaging, and he was having psychiatric issues.

The doctor looked at his hand and his eye. My son thinks he thought he was drug seeking and he never asked for medication. Anyway, he told my son that his hand wasn’t broken, but was damaged, that his eye looked awful, and that if he had a good plan for how to address his mental health, that he didn’t need to go to the psychiatric hospital. That, of course, is my son’s interpretation of the ER visit.

He did make an appointment and go to see the psychiatrist that prescribes his medication. She gave him a months worth, and he seems to be taking it. Our travels to and from his job every day is filled with talking and sometimes laughter. I have to work hard not to cry, it is such a relief.

I know he is still drinking. Even though his psych meds say that he should not. I asked him if he had asked the psychiatrist about drinking while on those meds. He said he had told her, and he said "she knows how I feel about AA" (he will not go). He said her response was that maybe he didn’t need AA. SMH

Anyway, it’s a blessing that he has not been rip roaring drunk lately and he and I are doing much better communicating. His animosity toward me seems to be less. So there’s that.

My oldest son has finally found a job that he likes. He’s running a forklift and loves that type of work. Loves to be to himself and not involved in any "chatter" at work. He only has 90 days to put in before they can determine whether they want to hire him from the company and take the employment service out of the picture. So that’s good news.

My "baby" was sentenced last Friday. He’s been in jail already 21 months, and was sentenced to 21 more months. My heart skips a beat just to type that. Anyway, he seems relieved to be at least "on his way" to getting to the prison where he will serve out the rest of his time. I’m doing my best to be supportive of his lady and their boy, my grandson.

Maybe soon he will get somewhere where we can visit him in person. I haven’t laid eyes on him in person, except for twice in court, for almost 2 years. 😢😢😢

He has a good attitude, and tries his best to reassure all those who love him that he is OK, and that "we are on the backside now". He is looking forward to working on getting his barber license and the judge is recommending that he be put in a drug program in prison.

My husband is doing better I think. He gets up at least 3 to 4 times a week and pushes down to the end of our street and back. It’s about 3/4 of a mile so that is much better than not being able to push down our hallway! Also, the six weeks of merepenim infusion must have done some good, because it’s been several weeks since the infusion was finished, and we have no signs of any further infections so far. Knock wood.

Thanks for all the encouragement you all have provided me through all of these things. Prayers, well wishes means so very much.

We just need to all "keep on keeping on".
