So as some of you know, I was here back in...2012ish. Divorced my wayward ex-husband. Now I'm back with a WBF. Anyway. Way back then I read How to Help Your Spouse Heal from Your Affair (stage whisper: by Linda MacDonald). I remembered that it was helpful, so I went on Amazon and ordered a workbook my therapist recommended...and then a book with this title was in the "suggested reads" section. I was like, oh yeah! That one! And added it to my cart.
WELL. Today I read it and, WOW what a load of bologna. This cheap imitation uses the same title and is by Janet Bloom. This version features such gems as a chapter-long justification of her own infidelity (she also leaves out the fact that she divorced her betrayed spouse, which one can later ascertain from her author bio), and then goes on to quote a wildly mixed bag of folks including Esther Perel, who I guess at least holds an advanced degree, a columnist from AskMen (lol), the wonderful Dr. Shirley Glass, PhD, an article from Medium (oh boy), another article from Elite Daily (what the heck), and Spring's After the Affair. The whole book is also riddled with typos, poor grammar, and misspellings. I tried to return it to Amazon but they didn't want it, so I'll be using it as kindling on my next camping trip.
Just want to spare everybody else the pain.
