This summer it was my breast cancer diagnosis, then surgery. Then the move from the West Coast to the East Coast, and 16 sessions of radiation at Dana-Farber. The first weekday that I didn't have to go to DF, H ended up in the hospital with a 12mm stone in one kidney and a 6mm stone in the other. They put a stent in, got his pain under control, but couldn't do the blast procedure for a couple of weeks because he started to run a fever and they put him on antibiotics to clear up an infection. So last week he has the procedure, they place a stent in the one kidney that has the 6mm stone (while in the hospital they only stented the kidney with the 12mm stone). I've never seen him in so much pain, and he's had some really painful bike accidents that landed him on a trauma floor. Has also had a ruptured disc in his back. Tomorrow he has an appt. to get both stents out, but....

I tested positive for COVID this morning - my first time. He called his urologist's office to ask them what he should do - they told him if he tests negative in the morning, he can still come in for the procedure, but has to wear a mask. And I can't drive him - he will have to go by himself.

I was at the retina specialist yesterday for establishing myself as a new patient, and when I got home, that's when I started to feel icky. So I had to call them today let them know I'd exposed them. I mean, eye doctors have to really get into your personal space to do their exams. I feel bad.

I got my booster almost three weeks ago, so I'm hoping my case will continue to stay mildish... mostly aches and pains and tiredness. I ran a slight fever yesterday, but haven't had one today yet. Last night I told H I should test for COVID, but we agreed to wait until this morning in case it was too early to detect it. When I woke up this morning, H told me our D and her H texted him earlier and they both tested positive. All three of us are first-timers. And of course, they've got the baby to take care of. He was sick over the weekend, but they tested him today and he's negative. When I tested, that damned line lit up in less than three minutes.

I'm so damned tired of my life being ruled by health issues. I think I will use the time to watch Downton Abbey again... escape TV.

Any other NOVIDS out there?

Sorry you got. But rest assured this virus is nothing like it was 3 years ago.
Sniffles, GI stuff, malaise and in 3 days mostly better.
Babies and littles rarely even have symptoms.

Rest up drink fluids get some Gatorade or liquid IV just in case the gut stuff wipes you out.

By the way this is typical of viruses they become more contagious and less virulent. Get rest and feel better.

I'm a Novid. First time I've heard it called that!

Worked in retail all the way through. Luckily, though, I'm kind of an unseen loner in retail, not actually on the floor so I'm sure that helps. I didn't wear a mask in my locked office but did if I moved throughout the store at any point. And I had my vax although I'm due for the new one. It doesn't seem to be available to me yet here, though. I think they are just doing people over 65 and health care workers, those at risk. I do have a hospital stay coming up so I'm wondering if they might take me as an at risk person.

Oh good lord that's a lot! :/

Google Jim Jeffries on Kimmel - he was just on there talking about his kidney stones that hit when he was touring - it's an epic and very cringeworthy tale, he even brought a pic of his stone. look But it will give you a giggle.

I haven't had the Thing and am hoping to keep it that way. Work in a fishbowl office at uni with three other people, three HEPA units, and I wear an N95 anytime I step out to use the washroom or walk through student swarms. Never stopped wearing them in stores, pretty much everywhere except the dentist.

Just turned 70 and getting set for the next round of booster/flu shots. Being an introvert has really been a blessing - don't socialize except outdoors on patios, so I won't be going to any restaurants or events or doing any travelling for the foreseeable future.

It's still very contagious and can still leave people with the long play version, which is not anything you want to ever have to deal with, ugh. Hope you all feel better soon.

OMG! That was hilarious! I just sent it to my family in a group text!

I don't think H realizes that the stent placement, then having it broken up for him via lithotripsy was actually the easier way out. Once it was broken up, the pieces passed through the stent, so he didn't have to pass it through the ureter or urethra in large pieces. Jeffries talks about morphine - man, they were giving H dilaudid when the morphine wasn't quite cutting it!

Sending positive thoughts. I had the virus but a family member who has never had it just got it. So far mild symptoms for them so far.

I had never heard of it before, but I'm guessing a Novid is someone who hasn't had Covid.

Mostly just exhausted. I really needed to shower yesterday and wash/dry my hair and I needed a nap afterwards. I haven't run a fever since Monday evening. Lots of head congestion so I'm pushing the fluids and taking guaifenesin. No cough other than the occasional tickle in my throat from draining sinuses. So more like a cold with extreme fatigue.

Looking back, I think I had some very subtle symptoms over the weekend - just the tiniest bit of tightness in my chest. I attributed it to anxiety, which is how I tend to notice it. If that tightness were very early initial symptoms that the virus had entered my system, then that means I'm on day five. I will probably start testing again tomorrow or Friday, although back in March, it took H 11 days to test negative.

It's incredibly warm here today for New England in October, so I may force myself to get out for a short walk of 5-10 minutes or so.

Thanks for asking!

I am sorry you are going through all of this. My goodness. sad

I read today there is a warning for people not to take the Covid vaccine shot and the flu shot at the same time as it has the possibility to cause strokes. I'm about to get the new covid shot but I can't take the flu shot. I tried it twice and both times I was totally down 2-3 weeks with the dang FLU. Really sick.

Hope everything improves for you soon!

@Jeaniegirl - yea, I saw that story yesterday, too. Thankfully I got the flu shot on 9/25, and the Covid shot on 10/5; I'm hoping those were far enough apart that they're not considered getting them together. I was supposed to start my Shingrix series yesterday, but of course, had to cancel that doctor's appt. I got the original shingles vaccine 8-9 years ago, so I have some protection. I just need the better shot series now that it's available.

@tushnurse - I'm sure being rundown from everything I've been through hasn't helped. I mean, I was exposed to H's Covid back in March for eleven days until he tested negative (although we basically lived in separate parts of the house for that time period) and never got it, yet I got it now, not quite sure where. I have to think if I came down with it at the exact same time as D and her H, we didn't necessarily give it to each other because otherwise, one of us would have been sick before the others. Grandson has continued to be negative.

D and SIL tested positive very quickly this morning, so I didn't bother to test. Since H and grandson are both negative, H went over there today and took grandson to the park so D and SIL could get a break.

I'm allowing myself one dosage of Afrin spray a day for three days and today was day two. Right now my biggest complaint is my sinuses. Hopefully one more day of Afrin tomorrow, and Sunday the sinuses might be a tad bit better than they were on Wednesday.

Just finished season 2 of Downton Abbey.

I wonder if the drug company is going to pull the add with Travis Kelce promoting getting both vaccines at the same time?

Glad I already got my flu shot. Now I have to get the Shingrix vaccine. I'm not looking forward to that one but it's better than getting shingles!!

Hope your fully recovered soon number4.

I was advised to not take the Shingrix shot if I wasn't feeling 100%. So in my mind, this time of year seems like not the best time for a once-and-done shot like that.

I have been told the Shingles vaccine can be a rough one for a lot of people. It worried me as I had what they called a 1 in a 1,000 person reaction to the Prevnar 13 vaccine: arm ached like a horse kicked it, ran a temperature of almost 100 for 2-3 days and got a grapefruit size swelling in the armpit of that arm. The Physician Assistant and the nurse said they had never seen that! 😮 Oh well....got that one out of the way.

Is Prevnar for pneumonia? My husband had a reaction similar to the covid vaccine, chills, headache, body aches and exhaustion. The nurse told him that was unusual.

I got the pneumonia vaccine back in August. Other than a sore arm for a couple of days, I didn't have a problem.

H had some mild reactions (achy, chills, etc.) for half a day after getting his COVID vaccines (except for this last booster last week - his first booster since having COVID in March), but did not have a problem with his first Shingrix vaccine. I haven't told him (and he doesn't read up on this stuff) that, if you're going to have a reaction to that shot, it tends to happen after the second one of the series.

I have put off, and put off the Shingrix series, but as you said, @zebra25, it's better than getting the illness! But I feel like my luck might be running low on the continuum of not having reactions to vaccines.

What are people hearing about the RSV (for those of us in that age group)? I'm hearing over 60 if you have a chronic condition; otherwise 65. But I saw how sick my grandson got with it last winter. I'd rather not roll the dice on that one, either.
